Sur-Gard IP-based Receiver Provides Visual Verification to Reduce False Alarms
Working with PIR cameras, SG-System 5 sends images to monitoring facilities so they can more accurately assess alarm situations

TORONTO — March 30, 2015 –– Sur-Gard, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, the world’s largest pure-play fire protection and security company, announces the introduction of SG-System 5, a reliable, upgradeable IP-based receiver that supports visual alarm verification solutions.

Built on Sur-Gard quality standards for monitoring station receivers, the SG-System 5 offers important features such as integrated redundancy and future-proofing through its capacity to monitor up to 1,474,560 IP cellular or Ethernet communicators through upgradeable memory or license keys.

The new SG-System 5 also supports visual verification via its compatibility with the DSC PowerSeries Neo platform. Working in congress with PIRs that are activated when an alarm is triggered, the SG-System 5 receiver can instantly send still images to the monitoring facility for assessment and possible action by authorities, thus reducing the possibility of costly false alarms while also speeding the process in real alarm situations.

“In response to the demand for visual verification of alarms, Sur-Gard’s new SG-System 5 offers monitoring stations timely critical images which allow them to respond quickly and appropriately,” said Tim Myers, Product Line Director - Intrusion, for Tyco Security Products.

The compact, space-saving SG-System 5 offers the highest account density per U rack available in the industry --complete with fully “hot swappable” line cards and built-in diagnostics that proactively identify and report issues to the console software. Programming changes can be handled through a menu-driven touch screen or remotely.

The SG-System 5 also offers a Full Service Agreement Program adding extra value to central station customers worldwide. The program provides exclusive benefits including 5 percent off all future hardware purchases, access to monthly Sur-Gard webinars and unlimited firmware upgrades. Other benefits under the service agreement, which also apply to SG-Systems 3/4, are a free 30-day loaner receiver program, 24/7 tech support and an advanced hardware replacement program.
